Tell USDA That You Want the Best Nutrition for All Children

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is planning major improvements to the quality of the food offered in school breakfast and lunch programs. Through April 13, USDA will be accepting comments on its proposed rule, Nutrition Standards in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. National PTA urges you to tell USDA that you support the need to revise the school meal standards and recommend ways to further strengthen the regulations.

How to Submit Comments to the USDA about the Proposed Rule “Nutrition Standards in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs”

(Please note: All comments and contact information are made available online to the public)

1. Download the attached Model Comment Letter and save it to your computer.
2. Go to http://www.regulations.gov/#!submitComment;D=FNS-2007-0038-0001
3. Enter your name and contact information on the left side. You can submit the comments as an individual or as a State/Council/Local PTA unit. Please feel free to upload the model letter content to your e-stationery. (The only required fields are first name, last name, and the comment box.)
4. In the comment box, type “Comment letter attached” or a short message (max 2000 characters)
5. Where it says “Upload File”, click “Browse” and locate your comment letter on your computer. Attach the file.
6. You can preview your comment or just click “Submit”.
7. After you submit, you will receive a Comment Tracking Number.
